Lenovo is famous for its stylish and gorgeous designs. Lenovo’s Yoga series is very popular among consumers. Along with the stylish design of the Yoga laptops, the specifications of the yoga series has also played a great role in attracting consumers. Lenovo released ThinkPad X1 Yoga in the first quarter of 2018 and it still is one of the best laptops from Lenovo.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga is a 2-in-1 laptop designed keeping in mind the business needs of consumers. Lenovo has put a lot of great features in this machine to attract more consumers. Almost all the features and specifications are as great as claimed by the manufacturing company of this gorgeous laptop. Still, you must know all about this laptop before making a decision to buy this laptop. Let’s have an in-depth look at all the features and specifications of Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga containing a Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and ITB hard drive.

Eye-catching Design

The design of a laptop is the most obvious detail which is hard to miss. You will definitely appreciate the beautiful design of this laptop. Lately, Lenovo has been using carbon fiber as the main material for the chassis in almost all of its laptops and this is no different in this regard. The black color with the carbon fiber finish feels amazing. ThinkPad X1 Yoga is also available in silver color.

The 14-inch ThinkPad X1 Yoga easily fits in your bag and feels great when you are holding it in your hand. This 2-in-1 14-inch laptop is not as light as you might think. It weighs 3.1 pounds with a thickness of 0.7 inches. As ThinkPad X1 Carbon weighs 2.5 pounds so ThinkPad X1 Yoga is definitely heavier than that. The traditional hinge from Lenovo works perfectly on this laptop. You will not feel much resistance while moving the lid and will easily be able to move the lid up and down with a soft hand.

Signature Logo

ThinkPad X1 yoga from Lenovo comes with the “ThinkPad” signature logo. The logo is placed on the backside of the lid in black color which makes it more elegant. The logo is placed on the upper left side on the backside of the lid and also on the deck below the keyboard. Lenovo has also distinguished the X1 series by placing “X1” logo on the lower right side on the backside of the lid. A “Lenovo” logo is also placed on the left side below the screen.

360° Design

The lid moves up to 360 degrees to provide an ultimate tablet experience to the user. When the lid is moved to 360 degrees to switch to the tablet mode, the keys on the keyboard move into the deck. This is not new as Lenovo has already introduced this feature in the previous models. This feature is introduced for the easiness of the consumer so that keys are pressed accidentally while using this 2-in-1 laptop as a tablet. However, you may feel a little resistance at some point while moving the lid back to switch to the tablet mode. It is not that big an issue though as it is just because of the mechanism that lowers the keys into the deck while switching to the tablet mode.

Camera and Fingerprint

A 0.9 megapixels Camera is placed above the display and as usual, it features a cover to protect your privacy. Lenovo calls this protective cover “ThinkShutter”.ThinkPad X1 Yoga also has a fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor provides a better security precaution. All the top manufacturers are using fingerprint sensors these days as they have realized the importance of fingerprint sensors lately. The fingerprint sensors work great and placed on the left side of the touchpad right below the keyboard.

ThinkPad X1 Yoga features 2 Thunderbolt ports and a USB 3.0 port on the left side. On the right side of ThinkPad X1 Yoga, you will find another USB 3.0 port, a security lock slot, and an HDMI port. The headphone jack is also present on the right side. As ThinkPad X1 Yoga comes with a stylus or ThinkPad Pen Pro so there is also a slot for this pen on the right side. Lenovo also realized the need for a mini-Ethernet port which is also placed on the right side.

Lenovo claims that ThinkPad X1 Yoga is a durable and reliable product. This 2-in-1 ThinkPad has passed all the durability tests and also withstood the extreme vibrations, shocks, temperatures tests. So Lenovo’s claims are true in this regard and you can easily rely on this tough machine.

Stunning Display

The display of ThinkPad X1 Yoga is great with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. But if you want an absolutely stunning display then you must go for HDR LTPS LCD display on ThinkPad X1 Yoga. This display is optional so you can choose this laptop with HDR LTPS LCD display or the regular display which is not bad either. Compared to the display of ThinkPad X1 Carbon, this display is slightly brighter. The touch screen of ThinkPad X1 Yoga is very responsive. You will not feel any lag while using the touch screen in tablet mode. The ThinkPad Pen Pro also works great on the touch screen of this 2-in-1 laptop.

Keyboard, Touchpad, and ThinkPad Pen Pro

The Keyboard of ThinkPad X1 Yoga is just fine. If you have used a laptop with a great keyboard than you may find this keyboard a bit dull. The keys have vertical travel of 1.4 mm. As this is a 14-inch laptop so there is no separate numeric keypad. The overall experience with the keyboard is just fine.

The pointing stick or as Lenovo calls it “TrackPoint” is present in this ThinkPad too. TrackPoint is kind of a signature feature that has always been there from the very beginning. However, TrackPoint is useful in some cases and fewer people might use it more often. Even though I am not a fan of TrackPoint, it does not bother me that much. TrackPoint could only become an issue if only it is troublesome during typing which, in my experience, it is not.

ThinkPad Pen Pro is rechargeable and it charges when it placed in its slot of the right side of ThinkPad. Lenovo claims that Pen Pro charges fast enough that it can work for 100 minutes after just 15 seconds of charging. On the other hand, the pressure sensitivity of Pen Pro is nowhere near the pressure sensitivity of Surface Pen from Microsoft. So ThinkPad Pen Pro with 2048 levels of sensitivity is just fine.

Audio and Graphics

ThinkPad X1 Yoga features good enough speakers. You will be able to enjoy clear and high-quality sound with these speakers. The speakers are loud enough that you will not need an external set of speakers in a slightly larger room. You can also find a pre-installed app to control different features of volume.

This ThinkPad is packed with Intel UHD 620 graphics. You can easily enjoy normal games like racing games on this laptop but heavy games will definitely require external graphics cards.

ThinkPad X1 Yoga features the 8th-Gen processor. The model with the 8th-Gen Core i7-8650U processor and 16GB RAM performs really well. You can easily run a few apps, more than a dozen tabs in the browser, and stream videos on YouTube without putting pressure on this machine. ThinkPad X1 Yoga is exceptionally great when compared to its competitors. It performs much better than HP’s Spectre x360 and Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Carbon. A 1TB SSD is very fast and transfers GBs of data in seconds with the transfer speed of nearly 510 MBs per second. However, HP’s Spectre x360 has lead in this regard with the transfer speed of 565 MBs per second.

Battery Life

When it comes to battery life, ThinkPad X1 Yoga is just fine. Even though its battery life is much better than a lot of other laptops out there but if you want to do a whole lot of complex work on this laptop then it may not a last a full day on a single charge. With the normal use and surfing the web over Wi-Fi, you will get around 7 and a half hours of battery life. It is less than the average battery life of premium laptops. Unfortunately, ThinkPad X1 Yoga falls behind almost all of its competitors in this regard.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga is not as cheap as you might expect. The base model of ThinkPad X1 Yoga starts at a whopping price of $1,679. If we look at its amazing display, touch screen with pen input, and faster SSD then the price might be justified still not everyone could afford this laptop. However, if you can afford to buy this 2-in-1 laptop, the model containing a Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD will be worth buying.
