Hewlett-Packard has never backed down from a tough competition when it comes to innovative designs of the laptop. HP is very popular among young consumers who want to own a powerful laptop with an innovative eye-catching design. 2-in-1 laptops have taken over the market recently. It does not mean that traditional laptops have completely lost their charm. It’s just that the majority of people would like to have a 2-in-1 laptop with touchscreen and pen input instead of a traditional laptop. The only thing that becomes resistant in the way of buying a 2-in-1 is the price. If the price is too high, it will drive away the consumer because let’s face it not everyone can afford an expensive laptop. Still, if a traditional laptop and a 2-in-1 are in the same price range, there is a good chance a consumer would pick a 2-in-1 laptop.

HP

HP has released pretty great laptops over the past few years. HP is also prominent in the industry for producing some amazing Windows and Android tablets too. When it comes to 2-in-1 laptops, HP has managed to grab the attention of consumers with its bold and innovative designs of laptops. HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is one of the best laptops produced by HP. It is not too big for your lap and it is not too small for your desk or table, it is just perfect. Stunning design

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is manufactured using aluminum which enhances its beauty. A delicate logo of HP is crafted on the back side of its lid. The hinge mechanism of this laptop is perfect and as the name of this laptop suggests the hinge lets you move the lid all the way to 360 degrees to make it a tablet. The logo of HP’s EliteBook series is crafted in the corner of the hinge. There is apparently a line on the top of the backside of the lid which turned out to be magnetic so when you move the lid to 360 degrees to enjoy the tablet mode, the back side of the lid attaches magnetically to the other side of the laptop to provide a full tablet experience to the user.

Speakers & Camera

The speakers are placed on both sides of the keyboard. A design has been made out of the hole of speaker vents which is not that big a deal because it seems great. The camera is placed above the display and works well enough during video calls, however, the image quality of this camera is not that great. The bezels on the display are thinner when compared to its competitors.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is not that heavy as it weighs 2.8 pounds. With the dimensions of 12 x 8.1 x 0.6 inches, it is one of lightest laptops. It is certainly lighter than MacBook Pro 13-inch and Lenovo Yoga C930.

Ports & Buttons

HP

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 has just the right amount of ports. It has got a USB 3.1 type-A port, power button, and a headphone jack on the left side. Apparently, there is a Nano SIM card slot on the left side too. HP does know about the importance of HDMI port so the right side of the laptop features an HDMI 1.4 port and 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports. Volume control buttons are also placed on the right side. The placement of volume keys and SIM card slot shows that HP considered all the options to make this laptop an ultimate tablet.

Security Protocol & Fingerprint Sensor

HP

A fingerprint sensor is also placed below the keyboard on the right side. HP has taken the security issue seriously so they have put all the essential security features into this machine. Apart from the fingerprint reader, Intel vPro and HP Sure View are part of the security protocol of this laptop. An IR camera serves as a security measurement so that you can use Microsoft’s facial recognition, Windows Hello to sign in.

HP

The build quality of HP EliteBook x360 is perfect. This premium looking laptop is durable enough to resist multiple drops from a table of normal height. It can also resist extreme temperature conditions. The laptop is capable of withstanding shock and vibration conditions. The laptop also passed the heat tests. Sure View panel prevents a hacker to sabotage your privacy through webcam as it brightens all sides of the display which disables the hackers to see through your webcam. The display quality is just perfect and nearly equal to some of its competitors. However, the brightness of HP EliteBook is much better than others. All these features mean that the display of HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 will not let you down.

Touchpad, Keyboard, and Stylus
HP

This EliteBook features a 4.3 x 2.5-inch touchpad which is perfect in size. The touchpad is smooth and works fine. You can easily get used to the precision pad gestures of Windows 10 on this touchpad. There is nothing wrong with the keyboard either. The keys are crafted well enough for the comfort of a typist. The key travel is 1.4 mm. there is no numeric keypad. The HP Stylus comes with this 2-in-1 laptop. This stylus is called HP Active Pen G2. The stylus works very well on the touchscreen of this laptop and provides the user with a great smooth experience while drawing on the screen.

Audio and Graphics

EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is equipped with Bang & Olufsen speakers which are loud enough to enjoy upbeat music but not too loud to irritate you. The sound coming from these speakers feels natural and there is no distortion. The audio app of Bang & Olufsen also helps in managing the level of volume for music and movies. The laptop is equipped with Intel UHD 620 GPU. You can definitely play normal games on this laptop and it will not hurt its performance. However, these internal graphics cannot handle heavy games.

Performance

EliteBook x360 1030 G3 features an Intel Core i7-8650U processor with 16GB of RAM. The processor gives the best performance even under a lot of pressure. Multiple opened tabs in the browser, a few heavy apps running in the background including a couple of normal games, and a high-quality YouTube video will have no effect on its performance what so ever. This laptop is also packed with a 512GB SSD. The speed of this SSD is unmatchable. It transfers GBs of data in a few seconds at the rate of 800 MBs per second. However, the overall performance of HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 fall a little behind the other premium quality laptop.

This battery timing is just perfect. Carrying out complex work or gaming on this laptop will definitely reduce the battery timing. Still, you will easily be able to get more than 5 hours of battery on a single charge. If you are going to choose a laptop with Sure View then you must know that the average battery timing will be around 6 and a half hours because the Sure View panel uses a little more battery for to brighten the corners. You can also switch off the Sure View Panel and get around 8 and a half hours of battery.

This incredible machine features various pre-installed software which helps you in monitoring its performance. The pre-installed software is HP BIOS self-healing software, HP Support Assistant, HP Recovery Manager, HP WorkWise, HP ePrint, HP JumpStart, and HP Sure-Click. The pre-installed software is a big plus point as all these software from HP will help you in carrying different tasks easily.

This 2-in-1 premium looking laptop packed with a lot of features is definitely not cheap. It starts at $1449 and higher models with more storage and RAM are even more expensive. Even though Stylus does come with this laptop but it cost an extra $79. It is a perfect laptop for work and entertainment if you can afford it.
